How To Update Aadhaar Card Details Offline & Online @uidai.gov.in

Aadhaar is becoming a lot more important these days. Any sort of errors can lead to cause a problem. The Linking of Aadhaar with the PAN Card has become mandatory and you need to make sure that all the demographic details mentioned in both the identity proofs should match. If there is any sort of mismatch in the name, date of birth, gender etc then you will not be able to link the both Aadhaar and PAN Card.

If you haven’t used your Aadhaar in any transaction, like Linking Bank Account or PAN for three years continuously, then your account will be inactive as per the UIDAI Helpline and Officials at Aadhaar Enrollment Center. You will not be able to access it. To make your account accessible you will have to update it.

As per the UIDAI Website, there are three ways to update or correct an Aadhaar

  • Update the details online
  • Request Update By Post
  • Visit the nearest enrollment center

Updating The Details Online

In this case, only those individuals can update the details online who have registered their valid mobile number with the Aadhaar Card. This is because, the process is OTP authenticated, therefore the registration of mobile number with Aadhaar is compulsory.

If you are using the online Self Service Update Portal to update details such as Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile etc. Then make sure that your mobile number is registered with the Aadhaar while using this service.

Follow this process if you intend to update your Aadhaar through the Self Service Update Portal:

  • Login to Aadhaar Card Online Self Service Update Portal using your Aadhaar number.
  • Submit your Aadhaar Card name change/ correction/ Surname change request online
  • Now scan and upload the required self-attested Identity Proof documents for Aadhaar card Name change/ correction/ Surname change request.
  • Once the name change or the correction or the surname request is submitted, you will be given an Aadhaar Card Update Request Number which can be used to track down the status of your card in future.

Request Update By Post

To generate a request update by post, you will have to download a request form online. Checkmark the fields which you want to make an update on the top of the form. Fill in the form in English Language and your local language that was taken during the enrollment time. This language appears in your Aadhaar number.

Fill in the required details in the form that require an update/ correction. Providing your mobile number is mandatory while making any updation or corrections on the Aadhaar card. Providing your e-mail id is optional on the UIDAI website. Make sure that the fields that require an update should be mentioned clearly.

Send the duly filled application form along with the self-attested photocopies of the required documents to the UIDAI at the given address. Mark the envelope as Aadhaar update/Correction on the top.

Visiting the Nearby Enrollment Center For the Update

If you are visiting the Permanent Aadhaar Enrollment Center you can get both the demographics (Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Mobile etc ) and the biometrics (Fingerprints, Iris and Photograph) update or correction done.

You have to the original documents for the updation at the enrollment center. The original documents will be scanned and will be returned back to you after the Updation. You can visit any of the Permanent Enrollment Center for the Updation.

The operation of the Aadhaar is done at free of cost. But, if you are visiting an enrollment center for the correction/ update then you will have to pay Rs 25 each time when you get your details updated.

As per the UIDAI Website, the turnaround time for the Aadhaar updation is 90 days. The update request will be verified by the UIDAI representative. Once the request is approved you can easily download your e-Aadhaar by clicking “Download Aadhaar” on the official site of UIDAI i.e www.uidai.gov.in

The Aadhaar letter with the updates will be delivered at your given residence address only in case of Name, Gender, Date of Birth etc. For the updation of mobile number/email ID, the notification will be sent to the registered mobile number or the email ID.
