It is also a secured method as the telecom operators are instructed not to disclose the complete KYC (Know Your Customer) details of subscribers to agents unlike in the past. This method is used for SIM – verification and insurance verification. Also, the subscriber’s personal details are not stored on the agent’s device.
Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS)
Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) is designed keeping the Aadhaar verification in mind.
Stepwise Procedure to link Aadhaar number with SIM Card
In case a subscriber opts for e – KYC (Know Your Customer), they are required to link their Aadhaar number with mobile. E – KYC is an Aadhaar based activation, which can be done at the time of taking the new connection. This e – KYC process is mandatory for both pre – paid and post – paid subscriber. It is an online procedure.
Follow the steps below to link your Aadhaar number to the SIM Cards:
- Visit the nearest centre of your respective telecom operator.
- Submit the mobile number and Aadhaar card details.
- You will be provided with 4 – digit verification code that is an OTP to the subscriber’s mobile number from the re – verification application.
- Submit the OTP to store executive and provide biometrics.
- Receive a SMS after 24 hours. Reply “Y” in order to complete the e – KYC process.
Also note that the government has instructed the telecom operators to provide the door step service to help completing the re – verification service to the senior citizens, disabled or chronically ill people. As per the Government announcement, it has been compulsory to link the Aadhaar Card with the Vodafone Mobile Number. The deadline date of linking the Aadhaar with the Vodafone Mobile Number is 6th February 2018.
If you failed to link your Aadhaar with your Vodafone sim card then, your number will be disconnected. If you got your Vodafone connection by completing the biometric along with the Aadhaar then you do not have to go through this process again. But if your Aadhaar card was just used as an Identity card then, you need to get your Vodafone Number linked with the Aadhaar Number.
This can be done in any Retailer Shop or Vodafone Store. The Vodafone is sending reminder messages to all of its subscribers to get their mobile number linked with Aadhaar as soon as possible.

- After that, you will receive a Verification Code (OTP) on your Mobile Number. Provide the code to that person.

- After the above process is done, you will receive a confirmation SMS regarding the linking of Aadhaar with you Vodafone Mobile Number within 24 hours.

Linking of Aadhaar with mobile and bank a/c will be decided in the last week of November.
On 3rd November, Supreme Court was to hear a plea which challenges the constitutional validity of Aadhaar Act and it will also ponder over the question of privacy it raises surrounding the 12 digit unique identification number.
On the hearing SC refused to pass an interim stay on linking of Aadhaar with mobile numbers and bank accounts and ask the telecom service providers to let this issue to be decided on by the constitutional bench only.
After Government mandated linking Aadhaar with mobile and bank accounts, telephone service providers started sending SMS alerts to the customers stating that in case of incomplete linkage, the customers will be exempted from the service. Also bank accounts will be making inoperational.
To that Supreme Court chastised the service providers for sending these messages to the citizens and creating panic amongst people.
The Centre denies that such messages were being sent.
To which Justice A.K Sikri says that “I don’t want to say in the presence of media people, but I also get (these) messages” (messages that threatens deactivation in case of not adhering to the linkage with Aadhaar to one’s bank account and mobile phone number).
At the hearing today, the apex court asked these service providers not to send these notification to the customers and scare people in this manner, until a constitution bench decides its validity.
And this five judge bench is expected to urgently address a bunch of petitions challenging the validity of Aadhaar on the ground that it violated citizen’s right to privacy.
On today’s hearing, SC has also asked the Centre to direct companies to incorporate the deadlines of the linkages in the notifications that they are sending to the customers in the form of SMS or email.

All the Mobile Numbers Should Be Linked With Aadhaar by 31st Mar 2018
The order that was passed by the Supreme Court has told the apex court that all the mobile numbers should get linked with the Aadhaar by 31st March 2018 under the E-KYC Verification. The court has also passed an order saying that the Aadhaar proof is mandatory while opening a Bank Account.
An affidavit of 113 pages was filed through an advocate Zoheb Hussain who said that the Supreme Court has approved the norm for the mandatory Aadhaar-Mobile Linkage in the Lokniti Foundation case on February 6 with a window of one year. The Government also said that there was no starvation death anyone because of anyone not having an Aadhaar.
As the deadline of the Aadhaar linking with the mobile number cannot be changed as it is fixed by the Supreme Court but the deadline for the Aadhaar linking with all the bank accounts has been extended to March 31st.

In a fresh affidavit, it has been said that The Bank accounts will stop operating on March 31st if your Aadhaar is not linked with it. But while opening a new bank account the Aadhaar or the Enrollment ID must be presented as an Identity Proof. For the existing account holders, the deadline has been extended to March 31st.
The Supreme Court has validated the Centre’s decision for mandatory linking of Aadhaar with the PAN Card or Income Tax Return Filing. The Court also added a statement of relief that, those who do not have an Aadhaar card and who do not obtain an Aadhaar card, their PAN Card will not get invalid this financial year.
