SC approves Aadhaar PAN Card Linking: The Supreme Court on Wednesday had finally came up with the decision of making Aadhaar-PAN Card Linking mandatory for filing Income Tax Return (ITR). The Central Board of Direct Taxes has extended the deadline of Aadhaar- PAN Card Link to 31st March 2019, further notifications will be released by the Government. The court has also declared that it is not mandtory to link Aadhaar Card with the Bank Accounts and Mobile Numbers.

You can easily link your Aadhaar Card with PAN Card through SMS or in Income Tax e-Filling Portal. All you have to do is Type UIDPAN space 12-Digit AADHAAR NUMBER space 10-Digit PAN space and send it to 56161.
If there is some minor mismatch in the information in Aadhaar/PAN then, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number/e-mail id for verification purpose. If you have a major mismatch issue, then you will have to visit UIDAI Website to correct the details.
If you are planning to Link your Aadhaar and PAN Card online, then visit then login – incometaxindiaefilling.gov.in using your Login Credentials – User ID and Password. To update Aadhaar, go to the Profile settings and click next. Then click on “Link Aadhaar” from the drop-down menu, a new form will be displayed on the screen. As per your PAN records, enter your name, date of birth, and gender. Then enter your Aadhaar Name and Number and then click on submit. After the submission a message will be received notifying that your Aadhaar PAN Link is successful. A confirmation mail will also be sent to your e-mail id. If you are new user, then you need to register yourself by providing the details.
The Aadhaar Verdict was announced by a five-judge constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice A.K Sikri, Justice A.M Khanwilkar, Justice D.Y Chandrachud, and Justice Ashok Bhushan. The bench had reserved the verdict after hearing the petitions over 38 days starting 17th January, this year.
If an individual does not have an Aadhaar Card, then proof of Application of enrollment for Aadhaar shall be obtained, it should not be older than 6 months. If in case, PAN Card is not submitted then, a certified copy of OVD (Officially Valid Document) shall be obtained. Currently residents of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Meghalaya can obtain an OVD which includes Passport, Driving License and Voter ID.
