The companies are required to update the details about their newly appointed employees via online to retirement fund body EPFO from October 1, 2017, an EPFO official said today.
The Employees Provident Fund Organisation has decided to put a stop to Form 9 (Form 9 is required to fill by the employers from a formal sector manually at present to intimate about their new employees), another official said.
This step has been taken in order to computerize EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization) towards Electronic Paper Free Organisation.
EPFO, the retirement fund body organisation decided to go paperless by 2018 as a part of digital India Initiative. For that, it has launched various online services such as EPF withdrawal.

The retirement fund body organisation says that, as the system contains all the relevant details of the employee like name, gender, DOB (Date of Birth), DOJ (Date of Joining), name of the father, name of the spouse, Aadhaar card details and bank details are collected through electronic challan (PF – Provident Fund return), submission of Form – 9 in physical form by the employer can bring to a hault.
The officials claimed that this would put an end to paperwork and will help in digitalizing the process. It will also boost e-governance for fully electronic settlement of claims and will clear the way for the employers to do business with ease.
