Lucknow City and Pin Code

Lucknow is the capital city of the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is the largest city in Uttar Pradesh and the 12th most populous urban city in India. Historically it was the capital of Awadh which was ruled by the Delhi Sultanate was later transferred and was ruled by the Nawabs of Awadh. It was the seat of power for the Nawabs during the 18th and the 19th century. This is precisely because of these reasons that Lucknow is also called the city of Nawabs.

Facts about the city

In a survey done by major electronic companies like LG, IMRB international, Lucknow is found out to be the second happiest city in India after Chandigarh.

It was the capital city of Awadh and the power seat for the Nawabs.

During India’s first war of independence, Lucknow was represented by Begum Hazrat Mahal and she led her army against the British

Lucknow has the oldest animal zoo in India. It was established way back in 1921.

During the British rule Hazaratganj was designed and developed like London’s Queen Street.

It is also known to be the first CCTV city of India with around 9000 security cameras installed in different parts of the city

The Rumi Darwaza which was once the entrance to the city is also called the Turkish gate. This is because the Rumi Drawaza is similar to the gateway to costantinopole.

Lucknow is also known for its world famous embroidary work known as the Chikankari. It is a 400 year old embroidery work.

The Bara Imambara is the largest hall in Asia with no external support from any beams or support.

The Kathak dance form which is one of classical dance form in India originated in Lucknow
