If you are a taxpayer and you are registering for GST, or entering invoice details while filing GST returns, you would require a TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) and GST State Code.
In fact, TIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) is a unique number which is issued by commercial tax department of respective states.
“It’s an eleven digit number to be mentioned in all VAT transactions and correspondence”.
The first two digit of the TIN (Taxpayers Identification Number) represents the State Code.

GST Jurisdiction
Department of CBEC (Central Board of Excise and Custom); GST, facilitates the tax payer by providing GST Jurisdiction method on their website.
In order to check GST Jurisdiction, you are required to visit CBEC official website https://cbec-gst.gov.in/know-your-jurisdiction.html

And on the home page, you will have to enter State, zone, division and range.

Once you enter all these above mentioned information, your Jurisdiction will be displayed on the screen.
