Get Tatkal Passport With Just Aadhaar Number | In 10 Days

Now you can get a Tatkal Passport by just providing your Aadhaar Number. To make the procedure go faster, the passport department is putting an end to the verification certificate in order to acquire a passport under the Tatkal scheme.

Previously, the applicants were required to obtain a certificate from the gazetted officer stated that the passport be issued under the tatkaal category.

 

The notice by the Regional Passport Office reads

It has been decided by the Ministry of External Affairs that in the larger public interest, the verification certificates is no longer required to be submitted by an applicant seeking passport under the revised tatkaal scheme.

On the matter, a passport official said that this move of doing away with the annexure F (Specimen declaration of applicants for obtaining a passport in lieu of lost / damaged passport) to restraint corruption.

Generally people apply for Tatkal Passport in emergency and approach travel agents and them with the help of the government officials and ask for sky – high amounts for issuing such verification certificates.

Under this scheme, apart from Aadhaar number / enrolment number and Annexure – E, you are required to provide any two documents from the below mentioned list:

  • EPIC (Elector’s Photo Identity Card)
  • Service photo identity card issued by State / Central Government
  • Public Sector Undertakings
  • Local bodies or public limited companies
  • Sc / ST / other backward class certificate
  • Arms license
  • Pension document such as ex – servicemen’s pension book / pension payment order / ex – servicemen’s widow / dependent certificate
  • Old age pension order;
  • Self – passport (unrevoked and undamaged)
  • PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card
  • Bank / Kisan / Post Office Passbook
  • Students photo identity card issued by an educational institution
  • Driving license (valid and jurisdiction of state of submission of applicant)
  • Birth certificate issued under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act
  • Ration Card

Requirements for Minors

If the applicant is below the age of 18 years, they are required to submit the below mentioned documents:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • Letter
  • E – Aadhaar containing the 12 digit Aadhaar number
  • 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the Aadhaar enrolment slip
  • Prescribed fee

Along with above mentioned documents, they are also required to submit any two of the below mentioned documents:

Tatkaal Passport service is available on consideration grounds of genuine emergency like death, serious illness of a blood relative. However, this service is not for the case of scheduling travel plans, or in case of expired visa status or in case where the passport has not been renewed for more than six months after the date of expiry.

Exactly an Indian Passport Looks Like

The Indian Passport comes in Blue- Black cover. The prints on the passport are golden in color. At the center of the passport lies the mark of the Official emblem printed. On the top “REPUBLIC OF INDIA” is inscribed in Hindi and English languages. A standard passport consists of 36 pages whereas; an individual who is traveling frequently can get a passport of 60 pages.
A basic passport contains the following information:
1. Holder’s name
2. Place and date of the birth
3. Photograph
4. A ghost picture containing Encoded Sensitive Information
5. Signature and other identifying information.
6. Permanent Address of the Holder
7. Gender
8. Date of issue and expiry of the passport
9. Place where the passport is issued.

Eligibility Criteria For an Indian Passport

The eligibility criteria for applying the passport is that applicant must be an Indian citizen. The validity of the passport is limited, usually between 5-10 years.

Types of Passport

Under the Passport Act, 1967 issued by the Government of India, there are basically three types of passports and they are categorized as follows:
1. TYPE P (ORDINARY PASSPORT): The letter “p” denotes “personal“. This is the most commonly used passport. This type of passports is used mainly for the travel on a holiday or a business purpose.
2. TYPE S (OFFICIAL PASSPORT): Here the letter “S” denotes “service“. These passports are basically used by people traveling abroad for an official government or state work.
3. TYPE D (DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT):D” denotes Diplomat. These types of passports are issued to those who always travel an official government work including those who are posted abroad.

Rules & Regulations To Follow For Passport Application: (Document to be Submitted) at Time of Applying

Before applying for a passport there are few things which are needed to keep in mind like, the applicant must be born on or after 26.01.1989. They are required to provide the birth certificate as the proof of Date of Birth. Other than this, there are few documents that are needed to be submitted before applying for Indian Passport.

Proof of Date of Birth Documents for Passport

  1. The birth certificate must be issued by the Registrar of Births or the Municipal Organization or any other organization who has the authorization and has been empowered under the Registration of Birth and Death Act 1969, to register the birth of the child born in India.
  2. He/she must submit the school leaving certificate which is issued by the school or college last attended. The school/college must have a good educational background.
  3. The policy bond which is issued by the Public Insurance Corporation/ the companies holding the DOB of the holder of the insurance policy.
  4. A copy of the service record of the applicant (Government servants) and pay pension orders (Retired Government Servants) must be dully attested and certified by the administrative officer of the concerned Ministry Department of the applicant.
  5. Aadhaar card or E-Aadhaar card.
  6. Election Photo Identity Card issued by the Election Commission of India.
  7. PAN card issued by the Income Tax Department.
  8. Driving license issued by the Transport Development.
  9. A declaration is given by the head of the child care home/orphanage on their official letterhead issuing the confirmation of the Date of Birth of the child.

Documents Required for The Proof of Address

  1. Water bill
  2. Telephone bill (landline/paid mobile bill)
  3. Electricity bill
  4. Income tax Assessment Order
  5. Election Commission Photo ID card
  6. Proof of Gas Connection
  7. Certificate of the employers of the reputed companies on the letterhead.

POLICE VERIFICATION: The applicant’s criminal record must be clean. The police verification is a must.In the case of the standard passport application, they have a pre-police verification. For Tatkal (Emergency) application of passport, you need to have a post-police verification. ECR/ECNR PASSPORT STATUS: ECR (Emigration Check Required) and ECNR (Emigration Check Not Required): If an Indian Passport Holder is a Matric/ Std X pass, he/she is free to go to any Gulf Countries/African Countries or to any poor countries. They are free to earn their livelihood at their own risk and thus they do not require any emigration check.

Procedure for Applying for a Passport

Before applying for a passport you need to choose the option of what type of passport you need: normal or tatkal. After choosing, based on your need there are two modes: online and offline.

For applying online, you need to log into the official site of the Passport Service Website i.e. www.passportindia.gov.in You need to take an appointment or time slot for visiting PSK.

The Applicants those who are applying offline need to download and print the form and submit them at the passport collection center. The applicants can also buy and submit the form there itself. There are even walk-ins for minor, handicapped and senior citizens that mean submit the form without an appointment. This case is mainly applicable on Tatkal applications.

New Passport Application System in India: Quick N Fast

  4. Click the “Pay and Scheduled Appointment” link on the “view saved/submitted applications” screen to schedule an appointed and thus an appointment slot will be allotted.

Step by Step a Guided Procedure for Applying for a Passport Online

Log-In Your First Step

  1. When you visit the home page, you’ll find a section -” APPLY”.
  2. If you are an existing user, then you can happily login into your account mentioning your details (user id and password).
  3. If you’re a first time user then you need to register and create an account in-order to generate a new user id and password.

Registration Procedure is as Follows

You will be redirected to the user registration page, where you need to fill in the details, some of the details are mandatory which are marked with Asterix(*).

  1. Firstly, you need to choose the type of passport applications you want to apply for i.e either CPV Delhi or the passport office (CPV is basically for the application of diplomatic/official passports)
  2. The passport office relevant to you based on the address of your current residence (the Tibetian refugees will have to choose “Delhi Passport Office” for identity certificate).
  3. You can also use your email id as the login-id and type the password and confirm your account.
  4. Modify your login process using a “HINT” option where you can provide a hint to a question and answer, in case you forget your login details.
  5. Finally, enter the code displayed and enter the “Hit” button to confirm.

Choosing your Application Type

  1. After login in, you can have the accessibility to the site and you are redirected to the Application Page. Here, you can choose to apply for the following types of applications.
  • Fresh Passport/Passport Reissue

Filling the Application Form

The application form can be applied in two modes- offline and online

Offline Mode of Applying:

  1. If you’re choosing to fill in the form offline, then click on the link provided “download  the form in soft copy“(NOTE: applicable on ACROBAT READER VERSION 9.0 ABOVE)
  2. It will redirect you to the “download e-form” for each of the following:
    • Fresh/reissue
    • Police Clearance Certificate
    • Diplomatic/Official
    • Identity Certificate
  3. Click on the desired link and download the e-form.
  4. Fill in the application e-form
  5. Click on the upload e-form and upload/submit the filled in application.

This is a quicker way to fill in the form since it doesn’t require any internet connection.

Online Mode

If you choose to fill in the form online, then click on the application online button

You will be redirected to the page, showing the option of the Passport Type you want to apply for.

  • FRESH/REISSUE
  • NORMAL OR TATKAL
  • Booklet of 36 or 60 pages.
  • The Validity of 10 years or up to 18 years of age is not applicable-choose not applicable if you are an applicant over 18 years.
  • Choose over 10 years or up to 18 years of age if the applicant is a 15 to 18 -year old minor.

Schedule, Pay and Book the Appointment

You need to schedule an appointment for Passport Seva Kendra (PSK). You are required to be present yourself. You can locate the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) on the portal.

  1. Go to the “Applicant Home Page” where you can view the saved applications. It shows in a tabular form the ARN, ARN file no., Applicant name, Appointment Date and Submission Number.
  2. Select the ARN Number of the form you just filled.

Below the table are the various options:

  • Retrieve partially filled form
  • Pay and Schedule Appointment
  • Track Application Status
  • Track Payment Status
  • Payment Receipt
  • Uploading supporting documents
  • Appointment History
  1. Click on the pay and schedule appointment.
  2. This initiates your payment process- choose the “mode of online payment” you want to use.

Online Payment-This is done using the Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Cards or other options.

Offline Payments– Also called as the Challan Payment. More about this in later steps.

  1. Once the payment is done the next step is to book an appointment.
  2. If you choose to pay online, you can move on to booking the appointment directly.If there is a hitch in the system, whereby you have been charged the passport fee without having your payment done -successfully. Go to the application Home Page and click on the track payment status.Here you can check the status of the application. If it has been processed successfully then get an appointment confirmation. If it is not processed, then it will show “transaction failed“. If in this case the amount is charged then, it will get refunded to your account within 7 days else, you will have to contact the customer care.
  3. In a case of the challan mode, take the challan to the SBI Branch and pay the required amount of the cash.
  4. The Challan is valid for only 85 days from generation.
  5. Collect the copy of challan from the receiving bank personnel.
  6. The bank will take 2days to verify the ARN details of the challan given.
  7. You can also track your payment details.
  8. On successful payment, either online or offline, you can schedule your appointment.
  9. Ensure all the details you have provided are correct, then click on the appointment payment and booking.

Note: Once the payment is done the money is not refunded.

If your payment is successful then, you will receive an Appointment Confirmation and Appointment Number.

Print ARN Receipt

Now, click on the Print Application Receipt present at the bottom right corner

The print application receipt has the following details:

Applicant Details: ARN, Type of Application, name, place, gender and marital status, employment type, Father’s name and current address.

Applicant Refrence: First reference details, Second reference details(these are the alphabetic codes).

Passport Payment Details: Total fee,f ee paid, Date and Time of Payment and the Payment Transaction ID.

Passport Appointment Details: Location of the PSK and its address, Date and Time of the Passport Appointment, appointment ID as well as the reporting time.

After reviewing out the complete details click on the print receipt present at the right bottom of the corner.

The last step in this process is the display of the “Passport application receipt”. This is the proof that you have completed the process of online passport application.

It also contains a tabular display where the Batch Sequence number, reporting time where the applicants are told to visit the nearest PSK according to the batches and appointments.

Things to be Taken Care When You Have an Appointment at PSK (Documents you need to carry)

  1. Carry your documents, i.e one set of original and another set of self-attested photocopies.(Parents can attest their minor copies).
  2. Its not necessary to take photographs along with because the photographs will be taken at the PSK. Only applicant who is a minor in age i.e below 4 years needs to carry a recent passport size photo with a white background with a size limit of 4.5*3.5 cm.
  3. You need to be present before the reporting timing after you reach, you will be issued with a token. Documents will be verified before the token issuance. If you’re late then you will not be entertained and will not be given a token.
  4. Cameras, electronic gadgets, and harmful objects are not allowed to PSK.
  5. If you’re unable to attend the appointment then you can reschedule it at PSK as soon as possible and you need to follow the above process from the start.

If your parents are planning to issue Passports for the Minors then following are the documents that are required for the Minor Passport Application.

  • Current address Proof in the name of the parents.
  • Original and Self-attested copies of the Parents Passport. This document has to be submitted in the Passport Seva Kendra.
  • Documents of minors should be attested by parents.
  • When the minor turns 18 years old he/she will be eligible for the Non-ECR Passport Category. In this case, the Emigration Check is not required.
  • The documents must be self-attested and should be submitted at the Passport Seva Kendra for the further processing.
  • After the processing of the documents, a declaration confirming the details is mentioned in the application about the minor as per the Annexure “D”.

Documents Required for the Passport Renewal for the Minors

Below mentioned are the documents that are required for the Passport Renewal for the Minors:

  • Original Old Passport
  • Self-Attested copy of the First and the last two pages of the Passport
  • Self-Attested Copy of the ECR and Non-ECR page.
  • Self-Attested Copy of the Validity Extension Page (in case of Short Validity Passport)
  • A declaration certificate confirming the details that are mentioned in the application about the minor applicant information as per “Annexure D”.
    • Original and self-attested copies of the Passport of the Parent’s.
    • The Parents can attest the documents of the Minor Applicants.

Date of Birth Certificate Required for the Passport Application

Recently, the Ministry of External Affairs has introduced new rules of Passport Application so as to simplify the process. The Ministry of External Affairs has taken interesting steps pertaining to the “Date of Birth” section of the Certificate.

Earlier in the section of submitting the “Proof of Birth Certificate,” all the applicants who were born on or after 26th of Jan 1989 had to submit the Birth Certificate as the Proof of Date of Birth. But according to the new set of rules, the applicants can now submit any one of the following documents as the proof of Date of Birth while submitting the Passport Application:

  • The Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths or the Municipal Corporation or any prescribed authority whosever has been empowered under the Registration of Births and Deaths Act 1969 to register the birth of the child who is born in India.
  • Transfer/School Leaving Certificate/ Matriculation Certificate issued by the school last attended/ recognized educational board containing the Date of Birth of the Applicant.
  • PAN Card issued by the Income Tax Department with the Date of Birth of the Applicant mentioned.
  • Aadhaar Card / E-Aadhaar card having the Date of Birth of the Applicant.
  • Copy of the extract of the Service Record of the applicant (this is only applicable to the Government Servants) or the Pay Pension Order (Applicable to the retired Government Servants). These documents should be duly attested/certified by the Officer in Charge of the Administration of the Concerned Ministry/ Department of the Applicant having the Date of Birth mentioned.
  • The Driving License issued by the Transport Department of the Concerned State Government having the Date of Birth.
  • Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission of India having the Date of Birth of the Applicant.
  • Policy Bond issued by the Public Life Insurance Corporation/ Companies having the Date of Birth of the Holder of the Insurance Policy.

The Government has changed several other changes making the Passport Application more prescribed and easy.

M-Passport Police App– which will help the Police Officers to carry out the verification process.

Documents Required for the Diplomatic Passport

A Diplomatic Passport is a type of Passport which is issued to those people who travel internationally and frequently for the Official Trips and State Business purposes and other Government Official Tours and Meetings. The Diplomatic Passport comes in Maroon Cover and in short, is known as “Type D” passports.

The Documents that are required for the Diplomatic Passport Application:

  • Official Identity Card of the Applicant or that of the Head of Office.
  • A certificate that has been issued by the Head of the Office.
  • An Official Request Letter from the Forwarding Officer.
  • PMO or Political Clearance Certificate, if needed.

For Existing Passport:

  1. Official or Diplomatic Passport: If you are reissuing the Passport then you require Original Diplomatic or Official Passport for cancellation. In this case, it has been kept in the custody that of the Ministry of the External Affairs, the Original Safe Custody or the Surrender Certificate will have to be provided. If in case, this has been canceled by the Ministry of the External Affairs, the Original Cancellation Certificate will have to provide.
  2. For Ordinary Passport: Certificate of Safe Custody.
  3. If an Official is retiring is less than 6 months from the application date, he/she will have to submit an undertaking from the Office that the Diplomatic or the Official Passport will be given to the Office as soon as he/she returns.

The applicants must make sure that the documents must be arranged in the following order:

  • A printed copy of the online filled application form.
  • Political or PMO Clearance Certificate
  • Copy of the Identity Card
  • Certificate from the Head of Office
  • Request from a Forwarding Officer
  • And other necessary documents.

Documents Required for the Reissue of the Passport

The Re-issuing of the Passport is done when one needs a completely new Passport. The applicant will receive a new booklet along with along with a new Passport number. The Passports are re-issued in cases when the Passport is about to get expired or is expired or if it’s lost or stolen or exhaustion of pages, damaged or soiled passports or change in the personal details.

Below listed are the following documents that are required to furnish for the Re-issue of the Passport Application:

  1. Documents required due to the Expiry of the Passport:
    • Original Old Passport
    • Self-Attested copy of the First and the last two pages of the Passport
    • Self-Attested Copy of the ECR and Non-ECR page.

    • Original Old Passport
    • Self-Attested Copy of the First and Last two pages of the Passport
    • Self-Attested Copy of the ECR and Non-ECR Page.
    • Self-Attested Copy of the Validity Extension Page (in case of Short Validity Passport)

Documents Required for the Lost Passport Application

A lost or a damaged Passport is classified further based on the extent of the damage which means:

  • If Passport number is readable, the name is legible and the photo is intact.
  • If the passport is damaged beyond the recognition.

If your Passport is damaged or stolen, the first thing that you have to do is file a complaint in the nearest Police Station and to the nearest Post Office or Indian Mission. You need to apply for the Re-Issue of the Passport.

Documents that are required for the Lost Passport Application are

  • An affidavit that gives the information regarding where and how the passport was stolen.
  • An original Passport Report
  • Self-attested copy of ECR and Non- ECR page.
  • Self-attested copy of the Validity Extension Page (in case of Short validity passport)

If you are an Indian, and you do not hold a Passport just because you don’t want to follow the complicated formalities and the procedures, so here comes a good news for you. Taking ahead an excellent workmanship Sushma Swaraj led the Ministry of the External Affairs and introduced some new modifications in the process of applying for a Passport. The objective of these rules is to minimize the complexity in the process of Passport Application. Today in this article, we are going to discuss the new rules which has introduced for Indian Passport Application. Below mentioned are all the amendments that are required for filing a Passport.

  • Proof of Address: Earlier, the applicants were finding it difficult to obtain a passport, as the rent agreement they possessed is not the registered one. Therefore, to solve these issues faced by the Bonafide applicants, the Ministry declared that
the unregistered agreement will also be considered and accepted as a valid proof of address by the Passport Issuing Authorities for the grant of Passport Facilities to the applicants
  • Proof of Date of Birth: Earlier, an Indian resident who was born on or after January 26, 1989, has to submit their Date of Birth Certificate as the Proof of Birth. But according to the new rule of Indian Passport, it is not mandatory to submit the Date of Birth Certificate. The person who is born on or after January 26, 1989, can submit any one of the following:
  1. Birth Certificate
  2. PAN Card
  3. Matriculation Certificate
  4. Aadhaar Card
  5. For the Government Employees: The ones who are currently working can submit a copy of the extract of their Service Record of an individual. And for the retired employees, they can submit the Pay Pension Order with the Date of Birth mentioned. Both the certificates must be duly signed and authorized by the administrator in charge Ministry of Department.
  6. Driving License
  7. Election Photo Identity Card
  8. Policy Bond issued by the Public Life Insurance Companies/Corporations mentioning the Date of Birth.
  • Name of Mother and Father: Earlier, while issuing for a Passport, mentioning both Mother’s and Father’s name was mandatory. But now according to the New Rule, any individual can mention any one of the following names in the application form: mother/father/legal guardian.
  • Number of Annexures: Previously, there were 15 annexes to be filled as prescribed under the Passport Rule 1980. But in the new rule, you have to file 9 annexures as some annexures have been merged whereas, some annexes (A, C, D, E, J, and K) has been removed.
  • Passport for the Children of Single Parents: Earlier, while applying for a Passport providing names of father and mother was mandatory and both the names should be printed on the passport. But according to the new rule of Passport issuance, the single parents who want to issue the passport for their children have an easy application form. They can also even file a request for not printing the name of the father and mother in the passport.
  • Attestation of the Annexes: Earlier, there was a rule that all the annexes that was prescribed under the Passport Rule 1980, must be attested by any Notary/ First Class Judicial Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate. But according to the new rule, all the annexes can be submitted self-declared on a plain paper and no attestation is required.
  • Marriage Certificate for Filling a Passport: Before, the Annexure A or Marriage Certificate was compulsory during the issuance of the Passport. But in the new rule of issuing a passport, there are no such obligations and a married couple may file for an Indian Passport without a Marriage Certificate.
  • For Divorced or Separated Person: Earlier in the old Passport Rule, the divorced applicants were forced to mention their spouse’s name while issuing for a Passport whereas, in the new rule the divorced or the separate applicants can file for a passport without mentioning their spouse’s name.
  • Orphaned Children: Earlier, the orphaned child was supposed to submit proof of date of birth like Birth Certificate or Matriculation Certificate or a declaratory letter by the court mentioning the Date of Birth. But in the new rule, a letter declaring the date of birth of the Orphaned Child in the letterhead of the Orphanage which is attested by the Head of the Orphanage is acceptable while issuing the passport.
  • No-Objection Certificate for the Government Employees: Earlier, an identity certificate (Annexure B) or a Non-Objection Certificate (Annexure M) from the employer was a must for an Indian Passport. Whereas, according to the New Passport Rule the Government Employee who is seeking for a Passport can just submit a self-declaration in Annexure N, stating that he/she has been given a prior notice to the Head of the Department that he/she is applying for the Passport.
  • Passport Rule for Sadhus and Sanyasis: Earlier, according to the old passport rule the Sadhus and Sanyasis had to mention their parent’s name. But according to the new rule, if the Sadhu or Sanyasi want to mention their Guru Name then they have to present at least one of the following documents- Aadhaar Card, Election Photo Identity Card, PAN Card etc. that has the name of their Guru mentioned under the Header of the Parent’s Name.

There are certain eligibility criteria for the TATKAL Passport application. Applicants falling into this category below cannot apply/reapply for the tatkal scheme.

  • Citizens born to Indian parents outside India having an Indian Descent– The applicants who have Indian parents staying outside India but have an Indian descent can apply for the Tatkal Passport.

    Tatkal Passport Fees

    The charges for the Tatkal application is quite high. If you are applying for a fresh passport (TATKAL) then it has a different fee and payment process along with the duration. You will be charged Rs 2000/- extra in addition to the regular fees mentioned. The maximum time limit for the Tatkal Passport issuance is 7-10 days.
