Driving License is an official document issued by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Holding this document permits an individual to drive specific categories of vehicles based on his/her requirements. Rajasthan Motor Vehicle Department

The Rajasthan Motor Vehicle department in Rajasthan has numerous Regional Transport Offices or RTO and staff throughout the state. This department is headed by the Transport Commissioner. And some of the responsibilities of this department are issuing driving licenses and permits, registration of motor vehicle, enforcing all regulations of the Motor Vehicle Act.

  2. There you will find an option to choose for which license you want to apply for:
    • Learner’s License
    • New Driving License
  3. Then select one from the option and then click on continue.
  4. Then you will proceed to the Applicant Details.
  5. In the applicant details section, fill in the required details. If your place of birth is outside India then you have to mention the month and the year you have migrated to India.
  6. After filling all the details, now click on continue to proceed to the next step.
  7. In the next step, enter the details of your address.
  8. Then enter the class of the vehicles. The class of the vehicles denotes the specific feature or the quality of your motor vehicle.
  9. After you are done filling the application form, now accept the declaration form and submit along with the documents.

Complete Details of the Application Form

The Form that is available for applying the Driving License is called Form 9. It has a total of 5 sections. Let us discuss about all the sections one by one:

Section – 1

This is the first part of the application form. In this part you have to provide all the information about yourself. The following are the details that is entered in the form:

Section – 2

The next section of the application form that denotes the type of vehicle that the applicant is seeking for a license to drive. The applicant can list up to 19 vehicle types for a license in one single form. You also have to mention the type of the License you are applying for. You should also mention the Registration Certificate.

Section – 3

In this section, the applicant has to enter all the enclosures that he/she is submitting along with the document. The enclosure documents that are submitted are the proof of address, identity, and age. The Learner’s License or the Driving License is issued to the applicant, along with the details such as the registering of the RTO and the Date of Issue.

Section – 4

This section consists of the declarations that say that the applicant has submitted all the necessary documents and enclosures like the medical certificate, license, documents of proof etc.

Section – 5

This section is associated to those who are applying for the Learner’s License and contains a document providing the parent/ guardian’s permission to apply for the Learner’s License.

This section is to be signed in the presence of the Licensing Authority by the parent/guardian.

After the completion of the form, you can click on the “Submit” button at the end of the form. After the submission, an auto-generated Web Application Number is generated on the screen. This number can be used for the future reference and can also be used to check the status of the application form.

Documents to be submitted for Driving License

The following list of the documents are submitted along with the application form (Form 9):

  1. Learner’s License
  2. Proof of Address- Passport/ Ration Card / Voter ID / Life Insurance Policy/ Utility Bills like the Telephone bill, gas bill etc. / State or Central issued pay slip. You can submit any one of them.
  3. Proof of Age: you can submit any one of the mentioned: PAN Card , School Matriculation Certificate / Voter ID / Passport and Birth Certificate.

  5. All the documents pertaining to the vehicle to be used for the driving test.

Why should one apply for a Driving License Online?

It is necessary to apply for a Driving License online because it makes the application process more convenient and takes less time to go through the entire process. You can download the application form or submit it along with the necessary documents. Once this process is completed, you need to appear the written exam along with the interview. To obtain a License, you need to clear these batches of test successfully.

Note: The online registration for the Learner’s License is only valid for the vehicles which are used for the personal purpose only. This is not applicable for the Commercial Purpose Vehicles. In a single application form, the applicant can apply for LL for more than one category of vehicle. The preliminary test is same for all the vehicles irrespective of the category of the vehicle for which LL is applied.

To apply for a Driving License, the applicant has to first apply for a Learner’s License. The applicant has to satisfy the following conditions to apply for a Learner’s License.

  1. The applicant’s age must be over 16 years for two-wheeler vehicle and 18 years for four-wheeler vehicle.
  2. The learner’s license holder can apply for a driving license 30 days after the issue of their Learner’s License.
  3. Learner’s License holders have to apply for a driving license within 180 days (6 months) of their Learner’s License being issued.

The Regional Transport Office is a Government Body that is responsible for the driver’s license the issuance and the registration of the vehicles in every state. The Road Transport Association sets the rules and regulations for the license issuance in Uttar Pradesh.

Driving License in RTO Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh Regional Transport Office provides the license for the following vehicles

  • Light Motor Vehicles (passenger) that includes cars, jeeps, delivery vans, auto rickshaws, and taxis.

For getting a driving license, the applicant has to fill the Form No. 4 and submit it with the above documents to the RTO Office issuing the license. The documents will be verified after the driving test is conducted. The RTO does not provide any vehicle for the test, therefore the applicant has to bring his/her own vehicle or arrange it with the driving school, where the applicant has learned the driving. How to make corrections in the UP Driving License

Even if we try to fill in the application form correctly, we still miss or make some errors. Most of them are the misspelled names and the wrong addresses that occur. To correct such errors and mistakes, the applicant has to collect and fill the relevant applications that are available in the RTO and online. The concerned official then checks and verifies and gives his approval. After the approval from the official, the new license with the correct details is issued. This license can be collected on the same day from the office. A small fee is charged on the basis of the corrections.

Uttar Pradesh Driving License Renewal Process

Every driving license, be it a private or a commercial has an expiry date, which depends on the date of issue or the license’s holder’s age. The normal validity of the license is mainly 20 years from the date of issuance. After the license gets expired, it can be renewed within a month, in order to avoid the penalty fee. How to apply for duplicate UP Driving License

The duplicate license can be applied in the Zonal Office and is submitted to the issuing authority. If the license is lost or stolen, it has to be immediately reported at the nearest police station. The complaint copy is then sent to the RTO Office to get a duplicate copy of the driving license.

If in case the license is lost, the applicant can provide the details like the license number, date of issue etc. this data can be retrieved from the records. The International Driving License can be issued in any of the RTOs of Uttar Pradesh. The validity of this license is 12 months. Types of Driving License in RTO Karnataka

In Karnataka, the license aspirants have to obtain the Learner’s License first and then obtain a Permanent Driving License in six months. You can get a slot for Permanent Driving License only after a month of getting the Learner’s License.

There are three types of Driving License granted by the Karnataka Government

  1. Driving License for the Motorcycles without Gear: This type of License is given to the candidates for driving motorcycles and two-wheelers without gears like scooters and mopeds. To apply for this license the candidates has to attain an age of 16 or above.
  2. Driving License for Light Weight Motorcycles: This license is valid for the vehicles such as the bikes and cars. To apply for this license the applicant has to attain an age of 18 or above.
  3. Driving License for Transport Vehicles: This license is for the transport vehicles such as the cabs, private service vehicles, trucks, and Lorries etc. The required age for applying this license is 20 or above.

To obtain the driving license the candidates must submit the following documents to the concerned Regional Transport Office (RTO).

A required correction is filed and a fresh license will be given to you on the same day when issued in the RTO. And if you are applying in a different RTO, then the new license with the changed address will be sent in one month after the verification. The applicant also has to pay Rs 215 and must be present in person to be photographed by the Official.

How to change the Address for Driving License Online in RTO Karnataka

If the applicant wants to change the address that is printed on the card, then they need to forward a written application along with certain proofs, for the new residence:

  • Passport
  • Any latest utility bill
  • LIC Policy
  • Ration Card
  • Caste Certificate (ST/SC, Backward class or Minorities etc.)
  • Income Certificate issued by the Tahasildar.
  • Self-swearing affidavit of the applicant in front of an executive Magistrate or a First Class Judicial Magistrate or a Notary Public with correct details.
  • Proof of Lawful residential status in India. (For overseas applicants)
  • The change of address can be applied and a new driving license is given to the applicant on the same day in the RTA Office.
  • If applied in a different RTO, the new driving license with new address will be sent in one month after due verification.

Test Procedure for Driving License in RTO Karnataka

After obtaining the Learner’s License, you can apply for the practical driving test after one month. You can also choose a slot according to your comfort of giving the test. On the day, the inspector will scrutinize the documents before you go for a test. The transport department does not provide any vehicles, you have to get your own vehicle. If you are trained in a motor vehicle driving school then that will be taken care by the school.

Four Wheeler Test: Firstly, the applicant has to give a Ground Test, which is basically driving along the marked “H” Without touching the poles planted on the edges. This is to test the control ability, reverse, shift gears, and focus and so on. Upon flunking this, you will be given another chance or date to retake the test again. Once you clear the ground test, you will be cleared for the road test as well. This will be the final stage. Two-Wheeler and Three-Wheeler Test: In this case also, the ground test comes first. You will have to ride a bike or an auto-rickshaw in a bordered “Figure of Eight” without touching the poles that are planted at the different corners. This shows how comfortable you are with the vehicle, with the shifting of the gears and bending corners and so on. After clearing this, you will be redirected to the road test, where you have to ride for a certain distance on the road complying with the rules and the regulations.

The inspector of the Motor Vehicles will take the test of your capability to drive in accordance with the guidelines listed under the Rule 15 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rule (1989). If he is satisfied with your driving skills, then he will pass the recommendations to the RTO Office and you will soon receive your driving License. If the applicant is failed to clear the test then he/she can appear the test after 7 days by paying a small fee of Rs 50.

Renewal of the Driving License in RTO Karnataka

The Driving License is issued with a validity of 20 years up to the age of 20 years. And if you cross the age of 50, then you have to renew your License after every 3-5 years in Karnataka. You can request for a renewal at least 20 years before it is expired or within a month after expiry.

First, you need to collect a renewal form from the RTO, where you have issued your License earlier. Submit the filled form CMV 9 along with the medical certificate I form CMV 1/1A along with three passport sized photographs and Original DL.

A renewal fee of Rs 300 is paid for the new card and you will receive the card the same day itself.

How to Apply for a Duplicate Driving License in RTO Karnataka

  • The applicant has to fill the LLD KMV-1 Form correctly and submit it to the Same RTO which has approved or renewed the License.
  • Along with the LLD Form, you have to give at least three copies of the Passport size photos and the fee mentioned in the KMV Guidebook.
  • If your application for the Duplicate Driving License is made in Form 7, then you have to pay a small fee of Rs 40.
  • You will also have to present a duplicate copy of your lost license, otherwise, it will be difficult for the concerned official to extract your details. Doing this will speed up the process and make it easier.

How to Get International Driving License in RTO Karnataka

If you are planning to apply for an International Driving License, then follow the below guidelines:

  • Collect the Form CMV 4-A from the nearest RTO Office or download it from the website.
  • A charge of Rs 500 is charged for the International Driving Permit. Submit the money to the RTO cashier. You can also make the payment online.
  • Show your Original Valid Driving License, Visa, Passport and Air Ticket and submit the copies in the Office.
  • A Medical Certificate and a fitness certificate in form CMV1 and CMV1A are given with a dully filled application along with three latest passports sized photographs.
  • The applicant must be an Indian Citizen and has to be present in the office.
  • If the driving license is given within 90 days, then the applicant has to go for a re-test.
  • The address that is given in the License must be under the RTO Dominion.
  • The International Driving Permit has a validity of 12 months or until the driving license expires, whichever happens, earlier.
